Scherly Arriaga, one of the vice-presidents of the National Congress in Honduras, has alleged a conspiracy against President Xiomara Castro’s administration.
This follows the departure of Gabriela Castellanos, the National Anti-Corruption Council Executive Director (CNA), from the country.
Tegucigalpa’s media outlets recently reported Castellanos and her family’s exit from Honduras on June 19, citing purported death threats against her.
Before leaving, Castellanos convened with Alice Shackelford, the UN representative in Honduras, and Laura Dogu, the US ambassador.
In a “Concentration of Power” report released on May 24, the CNA claimed that nepotism was prevalent in the government.
